Minutes from the General Meeting on September 12, 2017

CVRC GENERAL MEETING SEPT. 12, 2017 The meeting began at 7:31 pm. There were approximately 27+ people present. Scholarship Comm. Report: The kickoff for next years fundraising will begin soon. Further discussion will occur at the Steering Committee. Repeater Committee Report: After a crew went to the site and measured various parameters, we were advised to “Leave it Alone”. It was determined that the RF losses in the cans was manageable and to leave it alone. Also the repeater needs a new deep cycle battery. Upcoming Activities: Pedaling for Payson – Sept. 16th Music on Mainstreet (Henniker) – Sept. 30th. More people are needed to assist with communications (This is primarily an ARES activity) STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING – Sept. 26th at Jen’s House (7:00 pm) Nearfest – Oct. 13th & 14th Deerfield Fair Grounds. NH Championship Regatta – Oct. 15th on the Merrimack River. (more…)

STEERING COMMITTEE MINUTES FOR AUGUST 22, 2017

CVRC Steering Committee Meeting 8-22-17 The meeting started at 7:05 pm. Present: Ken Wilkens, Jen Shaw, Jeff Shaw, Steve Jones The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Jen Shaw. Mickie was unavailable. Steve Jones read the minutes of the 8-8-17 General Meeting. Query: The time and date from Larry Beagle for the next Tech. License Course? Ken Wilkens, after extensive study, gave a report on various options open to us for the next Christmas Party. We talked about the Slusser Senior Center, the Ici Bon Restaurant (where we hold a reservation at this time), Allen’s Restaurant, choosing a dinner, a buffet, or other type of service, the pros and cons of catering, insurances, costs, and several other issues. . We will investigate The Henniker Community Center, doing a pot luck somewhere and other options. Reminder: The Ici Bon Restaurant reservation currently is for Dec. 9th, (more…)

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FOR AUGUST 8, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING – 8/8/17 There were 25 people present. The Treasurer’s Report was given and accepted. No major changes occurred since the last report. For Field Day, June, 2017, the final score was 9,750 points. This was a very good score. Aug. 22nd is the date of the next Executive (Steering) Committee meeting. It was noted that Sept. 16th about 10 operators will be needed for the Peddling for Payson activity. At the Sept. 12th meeting, Jock Irvine will give a presentation on operating with QRP CW. The formal portion of our meeting was adjourned at about 8:00 pm. Next Peter Stohrer gave his talk on current issues related to the ARRL. He emphasized the need and use of emergency radio communications, everywhere. He mentioned that the Granite State Phone net operates on 3.973 MHz or on 3965 LSB, at (more…)

STEERING COMMITTEE MINUTES FOR JULY 25, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING – 7/25/17 The meeting started at 7:30 pm. Steve Jones read the minutes of the July 11th General Meeting (minutes taken by Mickie Clement in Steve’s absence). Present today: Lanette – KA1NKD, Jen – K1JNE, Steve – N1JHJ, Larry – KB1RIJ. Also arriving late Frank – N1FDR and Jeff – KB1WTI. Noted that Lanette was also here to discuss the sale of her husband’s ham station. She brought photos, and etc. for us to peruse. Noted that 5-10 metal stakes for Field Day antenna masts, need grinding. Steve and Larry can handle, but at a future date. Jen reminds us that the trailer roof repair still needs to be done. We need to get the sealant and some additional manpower. We are anxious to locate some quantity (50 or less) club brochures for use at the NIGHT (more…)

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FROM JULY 11, 2017

July 11, 2017 Meeting Minutes The July Meeting of the Contoocook Valley Radio Club commenced at 7:35 PM. The Treasurer and Secretary Reports were accepted. $200.00 was approved for the purchase of food for the Annual CVRC Picnic. Scholarship Committee Report: Mike Plunkett, KC1EUN, and Dale Clement, AF1T, awarded a CVRC Scholarship to Michael Salo, a student at Kearsarge High School. A motion passed to give a Technician Class Study Guide to Mike Salo, if he is interested. Repeater Committee Report: Frank Ross, N1FDR, reported that the new Repeater is working well. The Cans need to be cleaned and tested. Certificates for Field Day Participation were passed out by CVRC President, Jen Shaw, K1JNE. Our Club Members made over 9,000 points. STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FROM MAY 23, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING -5/23/17 Present: Jen, Mike, Jeff, Larry, Steve Status of Scholarship Committee: Only 3 applications are available. Chairman Mike has about another 5 which we are not currently able to get a hold of. We are putting this committee activity on hold until we can contact Mike. Discussion: Should we change our tax status from 501 C7 to 501 C3. We called N1KPT, Dave Connor, accountant, for advice. After much discussion, we decided it was way out of our ability to change over, and way too expensive, also. Because of this, we are going to put a hold on the auction idea. After a query by Steve Jones, it was agreed to stop printing minutes of meetings on paper. We will just file them in various computers with backup capabilities. REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FOR MAY 9 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB May 9, 2017 There were 29 people present. Secretaries report and Treasurer’s Report were given. The above reports were accepted. After a report by Pete Jones on how he does auctions and the various successes he has had, a motion was made by Larry Beaglr and seconded by KB1CSI to do an auction for the support of the CVRC Scholarship Fund. All in favor with 1 nay. The Web Master gave us an update and indicated that the transition to a different web address was still in progress. President noted that the dates for Field Day were June 24th and 25th. Note for Band Captains: Bring your computers to the next June Meeting for a software update. Jen gave the menu for Field Day. Steering Committee Minutes for April 25, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING – 4/25/17 Discussion: The meeting began shortly after 7:00 pm.  There were 10 people present: Steve J., Mike, Larry, Frank, Ken, Jen, our President, Dale, Mickie, Jeff and Pete. There was discussion to look at ideas for future projects, on the order of the successful one just completed, the construction of a ground plane antenna. Some recommendations were to refer to U Tube videos by Dave Tadlock and KG6ZZ. Suggested we consider filter kits, other antennas, soldering, etc. Jen noted that Elmering is very important and should strongly be encouraged.  We need to try to organize the effort. Scholarship Committee:  Noted that there are now 8 applications for the scholarship we wish to offer. We decided that the CVRC as a whole will not be reading individual applications. Regular Meeting Minutes for April 11, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING – 4/11/17 The meeting started at 7:31 with 25 people in attendance. The Secretary’s report and the Treasurer’s Report were given. It was added that Jeff Shaw, KB1WTI, gave a presentation on why we need emergency communications. The report was then approved. The Treasurer’s report was given.  It was noted that $440 was taken in in dues and Mickie deposited 916.92 from the Flea Market.  The report was approved. The Secretary gave a report on the previous Steering Committee meeting of March 30th. The Chair asked for a motion to increase the potential offer to Sarah Dustin for John Moore’s antenna tower to$350.00.  The current amount to be offered is $200.00. GENERAL MEETING – 3/21/17

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING – 3/21/17 There were 24 people present at the meeting. The minutes of the 2/28/17 Gen. Mtg. were read and approved. The Treasurers Report was given. The club is financially very stable. The good news is that we have exceeded the goal of collecting $200 for the club Scholarship fund. Totals for the income from the Flea Market were the same, if not better than last years. Congratulations to all who worked so hard on planning and executing the event. Special thanks to Jeff and Jen Shaw, Mickie Clement and others for their leadership and experience. Overall, the event was very successful. Also special thanks to the vendors and the presenters.
