Sept 7th,8th,9th in Boxboro Ma. Is the ARRL Convention/flea market. Sept 8th is the John Moore Estate Sale, selling off many items he has collected over the years, including many tools of all ages. At 320 Dustin Rd, Contoocook NH. Sept 8th & 9th is a VHF Contest. So reach out to your contesters!! Sept 11th is our next club meeting, being held at the Henniker Community Center in Henniker. We will be exploring VHF in all it’s glory! So if you have a project, a story, a question, an award, or a curious nature, please come and take part!! Directions: Take Rush Rd off Main Street, and your first right onto Crescent Street and park in the municipal parking, the community center is at the end of the parking lot facing the park. CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING 5/22/18 1. People present: Mike, Larry, Frank, Jeff, Jen, Pete, Mickie, Dale, Steve 2. There was discussion on how to replace destroyed club tent. ( was 8X8 or 10X10) 3. The tent will be replaced by Pete Jones before Field Day. 4. It was authorized to replace tent to up to $120.00 and up to 10’X10’. 5. Pete will ck. out tents at Rocky’s, Sears, Dick’s, Ocean State Job Lots. 6. For Sept. 5th, Sarah Dustin needs help sorting and selling John Moore’s tools, and etc. Sept. 8th and 9th is actual sale date. 7. Noted that K1BBQ just passed away less than a week ago. 8. Jen gave Steve 20 invitations to Field Day to mail out. That will be done shortly. 9. Henry Weeden was reimbursed $200.00 for a radio he gave to the club. 10. (more…)


CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING 5/8/18 1. The meeting started at about 7:35 pm. 2. There were 16 people present. 3. Reminder: Field Day will be on June 23rd and 24th. 4. Two new members were introduced to the club. 5. It was noted that the hilltop location on Plazawa Hill, formally owned by Ted Everett, was sold. 6. Noted that May 22nd is the next Steering Comm. Mtg. at Jen’s house, 7:00 pm. 7. ALL BAND CAPTAINS ARE REQUESTED TO BE THERE, AT Jen’s House. 8. June 5th is the next General Meeting. 9. Next: The Formal Presentation by Neil Goodell will begin. The topic is GROUNDING and LIGHTNING PROTECTION. 10. CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING 4/10/18 1. Noted: Several new members joined the Club, today. One of which was KC1IGS. 2. There were 25 people present. 3. Noted that the next presentation will be by Neil Goodell, AE1P, on grounding. 4. Steve Jones, N1JHJ, presented a plan for soliciting new information from members on their interests. 5. It was noted by Al Bardwell, NS1O, that there is a need to purchase 6 used computers, at a cost not to exceed $70.00 each, for the proper and reliable linking of all stations at Field Day. Al would like to attempt this purchase. 6. It, therefore, was moved and seconded to pursue this purchase. Motion voted upon, passed and was approved. 7. CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING 5-10-16 1. There were approximately 24 people present. 2. Steve Jones indicated that Vice President, Larry Beagle was ill at this time, so we will need some extra help at this time, since it’s possible that he may be unable to work with Pat Hart, our new President, in setting up Field Day and other chores which he indicated he would head up. 3. Our presenter, Gerry Hull, began talking about his topic: Remote Station Operation. 4. He indicated that a computer with 8 Mbps was required. 5. Using this setup, you can control the station you’re using, from anywhere in the world. 6. Gerry answered frequent questions as he progressed thru his presentation. 7. CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING – 2/9/16 1. There were 27 people present tonite. 2. Introductions started at 7:28 pm. 3. The talks began with Steve Jones covering station coax and antenna situations thoroughly, well before one begins to think about the expenses involved in the purchase of an RF Amplifier. Recommended costs were also discussed. 4. Brand names of popular amplifiers, various HF & VHF vacuum tube choices, their cost, and some recommendations on cost effective name brands and models. 5. Details about power losses, SWR requirements and related info were also covered. 6. Next, Dale began by distinguishing between linear and nonlinear amplifier operation and the pros and cons of both. Also discussed and shown were some thoughts on how vacuum tubes operate, including characteristics of grid current, high voltages and electron emission. Steering Committee Meeting Minutes – Feb. 24, 2015

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING – Feb. 24, 2015 1.Present: Wilkens, Connors (host), Lisee, Ross, Vice President Clement, President Beagle, Treasurer Clement, Secretary Jones. 2.We called Fred Reed to see if he had any interest in having summer picnic at his house, as he had done in the past. He said he would check with his wife and get back to us. Also mentioned that Elm Brook could be a backup, or even the Lake Sunapee Boat Ride (editorial note: maybe either boat). 3.We will check with Don Curtis on tickets for the Flea Market, which is now only a few weeks away. Noted that Dave Connors has the Hot Dog Cooker. 4.Further discussion on repeater: Dale and Larry tentatively planning a snow shoeing trip to repeater to do some minor checking out of the basics. CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING Feb. 10, 2015 1.There were 19 people in attendance. 2.Soon, Russ Richards began his presentation on the ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) Program. 3.Various ARES services were described. 4.Also areas of training were described. 5.How ARES provides help to people, agencies etc. in storms, catastrophes, etc. was described. 6.Use of base, mobile and portable radios was covered, as were “go” kits. 7.Noted that ARES meets on the 146.94 repeater and currently uses 147.435 Simplex, as well. 8.Level 1= every day operations, Level 2=watch reports and check all equipment, Level 3= emergency is imminent, check emergency power equipment, etc. Level 4= Full blown emergency… all hands called out. 9.Noted that Flea Market is coming up on March 22. 10.Motion made, seconded, voted and passed to spend $200.00 on door prizes for Flea Market. 11.(Editorial note: Purchase has been made.) GENERAL MEETING CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB – 10/14/14 1. Note: The minutes of this meeting were taken by the Treasurer, Mickie Clement, in the absence of the club Secretary, Steve Jones. 2. The meeting started at 7:30 pm. There were 30 people present according to the sign-up sheet. 3. The featured presentation started on the to[pic of DMR (digital mobile radio). The presenter was NE1B, Bill Barber. For further questions contact NE1B@ARRL.NET. 4. His talk was well received and the group enjoyed it. 5. The Treasurer’s Report was given. 6. The Constitution and By-Laws passed unanimously. 7. CVRC Meeting Minutes – August 12, 2014

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING Aug. 12, 2014 1. There were 26 people in attendance. 2. Soon after meeting opened, (at the regular time) Steve Jones began his talk on 2 Meter Beam Antennas. 3. There was much information presented, good questions asked and the talk was well received. 4. Next Dale and Steve demonstrated there experimental work, thus far with an LED communications system. It is only 1 way, with a tone only, at this time. 5. It was noted that several members were involved in the “Rafta Palooza” event at Weir’s Beach. ARES was also involved. That event went well. 6. Later, ARES was also discussed, in terms of their activities, training, etc. 7. It was noted that several license classes will be coming up in the early Fall. 8.
