STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FROM MAY 23, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING -5/23/17 Present: Jen, Mike, Jeff, Larry, Steve Status of Scholarship Committee: Only 3 applications are available. Chairman Mike has about another 5 which we are not currently able to get a hold of. We are putting this committee activity on hold until we can contact Mike. Discussion: Should we change our tax status from 501 C7 to 501 C3. We called N1KPT, Dave Connor, accountant, for advice. After much discussion, we decided it was way out of our ability to change over, and way too expensive, also. Because of this, we are going to put a hold on the auction idea. After a query by Steve Jones, it was agreed to stop printing minutes of meetings on paper. We will just file them in various computers with backup capabilities. Mickie’s Treasurer’s Report was read and approved, although (more…)

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FOR MAY 9 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB May 9, 2017 There were 29 people present. Secretaries report and Treasurer’s Report were given. The above reports were accepted. After a report by Pete Jones on how he does auctions and the various successes he has had, a motion was made by Larry Beaglr and seconded by KB1CSI to do an auction for the support of the CVRC Scholarship Fund. All in favor with 1 nay. The Web Master gave us an update and indicated that the transition to a different web address was still in progress. President noted that the dates for Field Day were June 24th and 25th. Note for Band Captains: Bring your computers to the next June Meeting for a software update. Jen gave the menu for Field Day. As usual, it sounded real good! The cost is still $5.00 per meal. TRAINING SESSION: All (more…)

VSWR

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_wave_ratio In radio engineering and telecommunications, standing wave ratio (SWR) is a measure of impedance matching of loads to the characteristic impedance of a transmission line or waveguide. Impedance mismatches result in standing waves along the transmission line, and SWR is defined as the ratio of the partial standing wave‘s amplitude at an antinode (maximum) to the amplitude at a node (minimum) along the line. The SWR is usually thought of in terms of the maximum and minimum AC voltages along the transmission line, thus called the voltage standing wave ratio or VSWR (sometimes pronounced “vizwar”[1][2]). For example, the VSWR value 1.2:1 denotes an AC voltage due to standing waves along the transmission line reaching a peak value 1.2 times that of the minimum AC voltage along that line. The SWR can as well be defined as the ratio of the maximum amplitude to (more…)

Tonights Club Meeting!
