Holding auction to benefit CVRC STEM Scholarship

At our last club meeting we had a very succinct presentation given to us by Pete Jones N1PPJ, who among other things is a professional auctioneer. He offered to donate his expertise and explained to us how we could make thousands, yes, thousands for the CVRC scholarship fund by simply dropping a piece of paper off to local businesses in our area’s, and gathering gift certificate’s, or items that can be auctioned off.  A few minutes of our time could result in being able to give an amazing scholarship to a deserving student entering the science, technology, engineering, or math fields of study. The questions on everyone’s mind were; why should we do this, and how much time will it take from my life? Steering Committee Minutes for April 25, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING – 4/25/17 Discussion: The meeting began shortly after 7:00 pm.  There were 10 people present: Steve J., Mike, Larry, Frank, Ken, Jen, our President, Dale, Mickie, Jeff and Pete. There was discussion to look at ideas for future projects, on the order of the successful one just completed, the construction of a ground plane antenna. Some recommendations were to refer to U Tube videos by Dave Tadlock and KG6ZZ. Suggested we consider filter kits, other antennas, soldering, etc. Jen noted that Elmering is very important and should strongly be encouraged.  We need to try to organize the effort. Scholarship Committee:  Noted that there are now 8 applications for the scholarship we wish to offer. We decided that the CVRC as a whole will not be reading individual applications. Regular Meeting Minutes for April 11, 2017

CONTOOCOOK VALLEY RADIO CLUB GENERAL MEETING – 4/11/17 The meeting started at 7:31 with 25 people in attendance. The Secretary’s report and the Treasurer’s Report were given. It was added that Jeff Shaw, KB1WTI, gave a presentation on why we need emergency communications. The report was then approved. The Treasurer’s report was given.  It was noted that $440 was taken in in dues and Mickie deposited 916.92 from the Flea Market.  The report was approved. The Secretary gave a report on the previous Steering Committee meeting of March 30th. The Chair asked for a motion to increase the potential offer to Sarah Dustin for John Moore’s antenna tower to$350.00.  The current amount to be offered is $200.00. New Info on Antenna Build! Space is still limited!

To all those interested but not yet signed up.      I have been able to obtain SOME MORE PARTS.  If you are interested but figured there wouldn’t be enough parts, I have some news.  I can now accomodate more than 10 people.  We can go for 15, now, instead of 10.   Just sign up.  The antenna will work well, and will handle plenty of power and is only $5.00.  So please reconsider, and try building this antenna.  At the very least, it makes a good stand-by antenna. At the April 11 Meeting

We will have the antenna build with N1JHJ.  There are 9 signed up and getting a 1/4 wave 2m ground plane antenna!  There is 1 left if you are interested, you need to contact events@k1bke.org today! Jeff will also be on hand after the program to register people with the website.  Your user name will be your call, and he will generate a password for you.
